The Shell Eco-marathon is a global competition organized by Shell where teams of students design, build, and test energy-efficient vehicles to see how far they can travel on the least amount of energy. The competition is held annually in various locations around the world and includes categories for both prototype and urban concept vehicles. The goal of the event is to encourage innovation and creativity in developing sustainable transportation solutions.

ABOUT THE COMPETITION

Being the only Canadian high‐school team participating in the 2017 event, our team was very successful, encouraging us to register again for the 2018 competition. In collaboration with Northern’s Science and Technology department teachers, we hope to again represent and promote our community among many others from across North America while growing our science and technology-based skills. Northern Collegiate was the only Canadian high school participating in the event. Many of the college and university teams did not pass the many inspections to participate in the actual running of the car.  All of the knowledge and materials required to do this was made possible through our teachers, sponsors, and local community coming together to support Northern Eco’s success.
